Carol is the intellectual driver behind The Dear Sir(s) Project. She oversees our research and manages our volunteer research and editorial teams.

Carol has spent her career working in Melbourne's private, quasi-government and public legal service sectors. Starting as a junior secretary, Carol worked and studied largely full-time simultaneously to attain her qualifications. As for all lawyers, that includes knowing the Australian Solicitors Conduct Rules.

Founding Grimshaw Legal and Aide Lawyers in 2018, Carol is their principal lawyer and focussed on delivering more than just outcomes for clients.

Growing up in the south eastern Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh and its surrounds, Carol learned of inequality and some of the harshness that can occur in life regardless of merit, aptitude or attitude.

Racism, sexism and classism were rife in the 1980s communities through which she travelled. As the product of a less than working class family, whose parents experienced health concerns, Carol had a strong sense of justice from an early age.

It's no wonder that her education included Australian, American and British history, politics and international relations, and international human rights law.
